The achievement of usurping Sir Alex Ferguson in Part 39 feels like an appropriate place to bring this Football Manager Story to an end. In my time with Atalanta I eventually dominated Italy, built several teams capable of winning the Champions League and World Champions.
It’s one of my favourite ever Football Manager saves and I loved managing some of the best players I’ve ever managed. But the pick of the bunch have to be the supremely talented midfield duo of Timmi Uldbjerg and Matteo Giacalone. Both scored great goals, but Uldbjerg specialised in spectacular free-kicks and loved laying on assists while Giacalone was a free-scoring boxto-box midfielder who became our first ever World Player of the Year. They were two rare, special talents, and Giacalone was even more pleasing given he came through the Atalanta youth academy.
Special mention also has to go to Cosimo Marco Da Graca, who we picked up on the cheap from Juventus then went on to become the club’s all-time record goalscorer and appearance holder. He’s a true Atalanta legend and I’ll remember his ridiculous exploits for a long time to come.
One day I hope to pick this game up again. But, due to travels, I had to sell the gaming PC I played this save on and the new laptop is too slow to run it.
I hope you enjoyed this football management adventure that ate up 17 days and 11 hours of my time on Football Manager 2019.
