Our reign in Milan had gotten off to a solid yet unspectacular start in which we we were seriously lacking goals in the first 30 or so games in Football Manager 2021. Our main source of goals, however, was the 39-year-old Zlatan Ibrahimovic!
With the in-game Football Manager 2020 clock ticking past 20 years, a new challenge was afoot as title specialist Robí di Lathamé took one last gamble in a career that's soon to come to a close. With the new Football Manager about to land, I decided to move on from two titles with Feyenoord and joined Italian giants Juventus.
When I took the role as Cagliari manager, the board wanted a top half finish then to work on becoming the "best of the rest" in Serie A. However, as soon as we ticked over into the 2032/33 campaign they suddenly expected us to qualify in the Champions League places.
Heading into 2032, Cagliari Calcio were being well and truly carried into the top half of Serie A by the goals of star striker Thomas De Lucia. The Italian, our newly appointed vice-captain, had scored more than half of our goals.
We moved into our 16th season in charge of Atalanta having not only won a 10th successive Serie A title, but also gone an entire league season unbeaten and become the greatest manager of all time by lifting the Euro Cup.
Moving into the second decade of life at Atalanta there wasn't much left to achieve - other than becoming the greatest manager of all time of course!
Mid-way through the 2020/21 campaign we found ourselves once again exceeding expectations, sitting nicely in the top four and with a decent chance of challenging the mighty Inter Milan, AS Roma and Juventus for the Serie A title.
Atalanta went into 2019 pushing towards the top six after a couple of strong victories over Juventus and Inter Milan.
