Our time at AS Roma on Football Manager 23 began in a strange fashion, playing lots of away matches, banging loads of goals, getting a lot of injuries, not spending any money, but also losing two of our first five league games.
We're headed to the Italian capital to take on one of the city's big two. And the Special One, José Mourinho, finds himself The Unemployed One as we take his position at AS Roma.
In the last couple of seasons I've covered off my plans for Football Manager in the coming 12 months. And this season also requires one as my plans will be changing a little.

My Beta FM21 save sees me begin the new game in Italy's Serie A with sleeping giants AC Milan. Despite winning 18 Italian titles, the club only has two since 1999. It also has seven European Cup titles to its name, but none since 2007. And it only has one cup win since 2011. So there's plenty of space to restore glory to Milan.
I'd just enjoyed a summer of soaking up the rays in the beautiful surroundings of my new home in Sardinia. But there was plenty of work to be done in the summer of 2031 to rebuild a Cagliari side lacking quality and, importantly, money.

Last time out we stepped into 2034 on a run of 59 league games without defeat and having progressed to the knockout stages of the Champions League and into the Italian Cup semi-finals.
We moved into our 16th season in charge of Atalanta having not only won a 10th successive Serie A title, but also gone an entire league season unbeaten and become the greatest manager of all time by lifting the Euro Cup.
