After 17 seasons of life in-game on Football Manager 2020, I'd just wrapped up my 11th league title and my third in three years in Germany with Borussia Dortmund.
The Journeyman | BVB: Part 8 – So Close, Yet So Far
Borussia Dortmund moved into 2036 narrowly behind Bayer Leverkusen at the top of Bundesliga, with perennial challengers Bayern Munich lingering. And our strong form was being inspired by a watertight defence that conceded just five times in the first 16 league games.
The Journeyman | BVB: Part 7 – Wonderkids Incoming
With a second successive Bundesliga title in the bag and an invincible season behind us, it was time to reflect on next steps and goals of this Journeyman save. I'm still excited about the potential of this Borussia Dortmund squad, but the key next challenge is to win that elusive Champions League for the first time - 16 years into the save!
The Journeyman | BVB: Part 6 – Farewell to a Legend
Borussia Dortmund saw off a stern test from Bayern Munich to seal their second successive Bundesliga title with an unbeaten season in 2034/35 - emulating the achievement we managed with Valencia in 2028/29.
The Journeyman | BVB: Part 5 – Title Race Goes to the Wire
Despite being unbeaten after 16 games heading into 2035, Borussia Dortmund somehow found themselves in second place in Bundesliga behind the relentless Bayern Munich.
The Journeyman | BVB: Part 4 – Plenty of Potential
A strong first season with Borussia Dortmund flowed straight into a big summer of football with England in South Korea. But I'd doubled up my international commitments by keeping a close eye on bringing in new talent to bolster the Dortmund squad.
The Journeyman | BVB: Part 3 – Season 1 Reflection
My first season with Borussia Dortmund had been an unmitigated success as I wrapped up my 9th domestic title with a third club. We eventually won Bundesliga by 12 points from Bayern Munich, winning our last 12 league games in the process.
The Journeyman | BVB: Part 2 – Title Challenge
After 10 games in Germany, things were looking relatively positive. Borussia Dortmund sat 2nd in Bundesliga, just one point behind Bayern Munich, against whom we'd sealed a 0-0 away draw in the last game of the previous post.
The Journeyman | BVB: Part 1 – Braganca Reunion
After a few months focusing on managing England in the Nations League, we took advantage of a mini manager merry-go-round to take the reigns at Borussia Dortmund. And, pleasingly, it also takes me to my favourite club in Germany having previously done so in Portugal and Spain.
